Office of the Principal

Welcome to the Cherry Hill  School Web Site!

We are proud that Cherry Hill School was recognized as a 1998-99 New Jersey Department of Education Blue Ribbon School.  This honor reflects the exceptional community of educators, parents, and students at the school. Educators at Cherry Hill School are often recognized for excellence by their professional organizations.  Exceptional programs have also received recognition. The district has also received Best Practice Awards from the New Jersey Department of Education for Primary Grade Authentic Assessment and Weather Satellite Imaging.

Our comprehensive curriculum, innovative programs and continuing professional development offer opportunities for our students to experience an outstanding education.  Cherry Hill School is a place where we foster an environment of mutual respect for one another. High academic standards and opportunities for involvement in innovative programs encourage each student at Cherry Hill School to develop fundamental skills and thinking processes to be active participants in the learning process.  An integrated curriculum which addresses a wide spectrum of skills and processes seeks to meet the needs of all students.  Authentic activities and learning materials are the basis for creating life-long readers as well as future mathematicians, scientists, artists, historians, and musicians.  A variety of enrichment programs provide opportunities for students to pursue their interests and apply learning to real-life situations.

The social-emotional development of students is nurtured through various programs and interventions at the school.  A looping option is provided at many grade levels, enabling teachers and students to form stronger relationships during their two years together.  A school-wide effort to eliminate bullying, called WRAP: We Respect All People, is fostering kindness and positive social interactions between all students.  Students are actively involved in community service work both in school and in the community.

At Cherry Hill School, students use technology in meaningful, real-life applications.  Children and teachers use on-line services to access data from a variety of sources.  They collect actual environmental data and upload it on to the Internet.  Students are also sharing information with other students globally through a variety of programs and services.  In classrooms, students use computers daily for word processing and organization purposes, skills development and curriculum enrichment.

Authentic assessment techniques allow teachers to observe and record each students progress in relation to grade level curriculum objectives. Primary grade teachers have successfully implemented a portfolio assessment process in place of standardized testing. Connecting assessment with curriculum objectives based on the Content Standards allows for regular program evaluation.

Our Parent Teacher Organization is extremely active and welcomes participation by all.  The PTO's efforts are seen everyday as our students and teachers enjoy the many programs and activities offered at Cherry Hill School.  The students are the primary focus of this active organization. I thank our parents for their continuous support and contributions for our children.

I invite you to navigate through our web site to become more familiar with our school.
