Registration
We're happy you live in River Edge,
New Jersey.
In order to register a pupil, the following criteria must be met:
A child entering Kindergarten must be five years old by October 1st of the year starting Kindergarten and a child entering Grade One must be six years old by October 1st of that year.  For more information on Kindergarten, click here. 

 
 
 
 
 
 

Documents required:


 
 

  • Child's original birth certificate.
  • Child's Immunization Record from pediatrician.  This must include the Hepatitis B series and Chicken Pox vaccination (or actual dates your child had the disease).
  • Note: Your child will be required to have a complete physical from the pediatrician and forms will be supplied at registration. 
    • <> Proofs of Residency: 
    If you own, Original recorded deed or original mortgage and current year's tax bill showing parent's name and River Edge Address.
    If you rent, the Original lease. 
    Also required:  current month's a) bank statement b) utility bill or c) phone bill.
  • Photo ID of parent such as a valid driver's license, passport or employment ID card.
Bring these documents to the school office for the secretary to register your child.  You must be present to sign the registration card which completes the process.  As soon as all the above documents are on file, your child may start attending school.

Note:   If you are living with a family who owns a home in River Edge, the owner must sign an affidavit which needs to be notarized.  Affidavits are available in the office and can be notarized in our Board of Education office.  The owner must also bring the above proofs of residency. 

If your child is transferring from another school, please bring the transfer card from that school, as well as, the name, address and phone number of that school.

When do I register?  From September through June, please register your child as soon as you know you will be moving into River Edge and you have all the required documents.  The school is open during July and August to register for September, but please call the office for an appointment:

for registering: 
 The registration process for a new student transferring from another school requires at least 20 minutes of uninterrupted time.  No appointment is necessary, however, it is always best to call first.
Does my child need to be  present at registration? No, only a parent/guardian must be present to register a child in order to provide the required documents and to sign the registration card. 
Kindergarten Roundup:  Look in the "Town News" for announcement on town wide Kindergarten registration held in January.  New residents must register whenever they move into River Edge.
Parking for New Bridge Center
 It is located in front of the building on Greene Ave. (off of Wayne).  You may also park on Bogert Road and walk through Cherry Hill School.  All visitors must sign in at the main office.
Other Requirements:  All new students to River Edge schools are required to have a recent physical examination by a board certified doctor.   A regulation physical form must be obtained from the school nurse.
